Sir Alex has promised to make changes ahead of the Reds’ second meeting with the Malaysia XI side that came so close to upsetting United on Saturday afternoon. It took a late Michael Owen goal to seal victory at the Bukit Jilal stadium in Kuala Lumpur and the 29-year-old could find himself in the starting XI on Monday night when the teams meet again. The boss has also indicated he’ll give starts to Gary Neville and Fabio, while Ryan Giggs, Wes Brown, Zoran Tosic, Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher are also tipped to play large roles."The players who started the first game won’t start on Monday," the Reds' manager said. "It will be a completely different team. Other players need to get minutes on the clock."
Sir Alex was effusive in his praise for United’s opponents after the 3-2 win and will no doubt expect a similar challenge on Monday.
“I thought Malaysia were very good in a lot of things they did. They had the speed to catch us on the counter-attack a few times. You always worry about quick teams because they can really threaten you.”
K Rajagobal’s side is certainly much better equipped than when United steamrolled the Malaysians 6-0 in 2001.
“The scoreline tells you they’re far superior,” Sir Alex agreed.
“They have great enthusiasm, speed and a good hunger for playing. As soon as we got the ball they were closing us down quickly and that’s great credit to them.
“And I thought they were brave at the back to play one against one. They weren’t fazed by going tight against our centre forwards.”
p/s: So Malaysia, c'mon lah... Get up and prove that we can oso be in the 'World Cup' or at least be the top "Asia Team"
