This week old movies review, I watched 3 movies this week, so here are the reviews...
1. The Sweetest Thing
This plot begins with Christina Walters (Diaz) and Courtney Rockcliffe (Applegate), all-around party girls, attempting to ease their roommate Jane Burns' (Blair) relationship-induced depression by taking her on a girls' night out. During that evening Walters meets Peter Donahue (Jane) and falls for him. However, having missed her chance that evening, Walters and Rockcliffe spend the rest of the movie chasing him down.
The film uses mostly physical and crude gags as its source of humour. One memorable scene finds the main characters leading a musical number in a restaurant, the lyrics of which are about how women flatter men by praising the size of their genitals. In one of the scenes of the film the characters were singing while the character of Jane Burns cannot sing because during that time she was having oral sex. This musical number, (based on the song "I'm Too Sexy" by British group Right Said Fred) was removed from the U.S. theatrical release but remained in the versions shown theatrically in other countries, and was restored for the unrated version of the U.S. video release.

Kat Ellis (Debra Messing) is a single New Yorker who returns to her parents' house in London to be the maid of honor at her younger half sister's (Amy Adams) wedding. She is dismayed to discover that the best man is none other than her former fiancé, who unceremoniously dumped her two years ago. Anxious about confronting him and eager to impress him, she hires debonair male escort Nick Mercer (Dermot Mulroney) to pose as her boyfriend.
Kat intends to make her former flame, Jeffrey (Jeremy Sheffield), jealous, but her plan backfires when Nick convinces everyone, including her, that they are madly in love. Kat then feels herself too falling for Nick as he slowly falls for her. Along the way, Kat discovers that her younger half sister, Amy, slept with Jeffrey while they were still together. This affair was the reason why Jeffrey dumped Kat because he fancied himself in love with Amy. Amy confesses her guilt to her fiancé Ed (Jack Davenport) just before the church ceremony. 3. Mad Love
Straight-laced Matt Leland (O'Donnell) falls in love with Casey Roberts (Barrymore), the new girl in school from Chicago. After Matt helps Casey escape from an acute psychiatric ward, they run away as they battle her further fall into bipolar disorder.
Casey is eccentric in nature. Her carefree attitude is attributed to a part of her manic depression in which she can experience severe highs and severe lows of emotion. It is from this truth much of the film's central appeal and plot are based upon, in that her mutual love and joy can be so extreme yet dangerously flawed.
Heading toward Mexico, Casey begins to experience the depression again. Matt, trying to help her, becomes scared. After another suicide attempt, they return to Seattle and their families, where Casey agrees to medication for her problem. More ►
